Claudia Șerbănuță is a passionate librarian who is currently the interim manager of the National Library of Romania. Having a background in Computer Science, Claudia holds an MSc in Library and Information Science from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is invested in contributing to the transformation of Romanian information culture into a culture that fully supports a participatory democracy. For the past 8 years she has been advocating for a meaningful transformation of services offered by memory institutions and, in particular, promoting library services that adapt to community needs. She has been one of the main contributors to ‘prolibro.eu’, a professional blog for the librarian community, and a member in several committees evaluating library programs (Biblionet, Gala Premiilor în Educație). Her publications include articles on information history and the usage of new technologies in Eastern European context. Claudia is also an enthusiast cyclist and has participated in two ‘Cycling for Libraries’ international conferences.
