Ana Maria Vrabie
Anamaria Vrabie is an urban economist and local development professional. In the past 6 years Anamaria consolidated organizations and new modes of action for urban and regional development practice in Romania, acting as co-founder for the Creative Room NGO and the start-up MKBT: Make Better and teaching fellow urban planners. She holds a BA from the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest and an MA in International Affairs as a Fulbright Scholar at The New School New York.
Anamaria has developed and managed the first participation of a Romanian entity within UN-Habitat’s World Urban Forum 6 and 7, bridging the global agenda with the reality of post-socialist cities and has overseen the organizational transition into Urban INC, Urban Insights Center, a civic urban action-research center located in downtown Bucharest. She has also worked extensively in technical assistance to central and local governments in Romania on issues such as strategic planning, SME competitiveness and local economic development.
She strongly believes in the power of cities of bringing people together and the transformative ideas that emerge from the interaction of local wisdom with global challenges. She is a member of several international networks, including Global Shapers of the World Economic Forum and BUILD of the German Marshall Fund and an ever curious traveler.
