Vasile Iuga became an international Partner in 1997 and was the Country Managing Partner for Romania between 2004-2015. Between 2008-2015, he was Managing Partner of PwC for South East Europe (SEE - a region which covers 11 countries, with 35 Partners and over 1,300 employees). Currently he is a Senior Advisor to PwC Romania.
In 25 years with the firm, he acquired in-depth knowledge of the Romanian business environment, being involved in hundreds of projects advising companies across all industries. He is specialised in Energy and Financial Services. He led a significant number of large-scale ventures projects to multinationals and large national companies.
In acknowledgement of his contribution to the development of entrepreneurship in Romania and the important role in forging the professionalisation of financial audit in Romania, Vasile received the title of Professor Honoris Causa from the Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj, Romania.
Vasile is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA-UK), of the Chamber of Romanian Financial Auditors (CAFR) - as financial auditor, the Body of Expert and Licensed Accountants of Romania (CECCAR) - as expert accountant, the Romanian Association of Evaluators (ANEVAR) - as expert in enterprise evaluation, and the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). He served as well as a member of the Board of the Chamber of Financial Auditors in Romania and of the Public Company Audit Oversight Board. He was also the Vice-President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Romania (AmCham) for a considerable number of years. Vasile is the Treasurer of the Board of the Aspen Institute in Romania.
He is the independent chairperson of the Competitive Romania project and a member of the Presidential Commission charged for drafting the Country Project.
A graduate of the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, Vasile also attended executive trainings within Harvard Business School, London Business School, INSEAD and IMD Business School programmes. In addition, he is the co-author of the first Romanian book on strategy – Success Formulas for the Next Decade – released in 2011, coordinator of the volume 7 fundamental themes for Romania, released in 2014, and main coordinator of the volume Transatlantic Romania, released in 2016.
He has accepted invitations to deliver lectures at more than 100 national and international events, covering topics such as energy, economic development, competitiveness, financial markets, privatisation, financial reporting, governance, financial audit, evaluation and more. He has also participated at international conferences such as the World Economic Forum in Davos and World Policy Conference, Black Sea Energy and Economic Forum, Bucharest Forum, Natural Gas Europe, Friends of Europe, ELEC etc.
He has also made over 150 appearances in newspapers and magazines and on television, discussing energy, financial services, management and strategy, financial reporting topics.
He contributed more than 40 essays on energy topics, including geostrategic aspects and taxation, as well as infrastructure, regulation, financial services etc., published in leading magazines.
