In collaboration with the Romanian Government, the Aspen Institute Romania was honored to organize the launch of the Black Sea Maritime Cluster on May 14 in Constanta.
Under the auspices of the Romanian Gateway Unit, a national strategic initiative, the discussions of the launch of the Black Sea Maritime Cluster focused on two main topics: economic growth, investments and sustainability (including employment and work force strategies) as a result of naval industrial economic activities; and Security and Energy in the Black Sea area.
Guests and speakers to the event included high level representatives of the Romanian Government, port authorities, local administration, as well as key representatives from embassies and chambers of commerce, the World Bank, IFC and the most important economic actors in naval and maritime infrastructure, consultancy and oil & gas companies.
The Romanian Gateway Initiative has been launched under the Romanian Government
inspired by the works of Aspen Romania’s 2013 edition of Bucharest Forum
, the largest international event in Romania focusing on the needs of economic and strategy policy decision makers in the region between the Adriatic, Black Sea and the Caspian Sea. The establishment of the Romania Gateway Unit creates the institutional space for unprecedented public-private cooperation and coordination with a view to large scale investment development.
